RULES AND REGULATIONS

20TH ANNUAL BAY FISHING TOURNAMENT

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025

FISHING HOURS: 6:30 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M.

WEIGH-IN: 1:00 TO 3:00 P.M. AT LOUIE’S BACKYARD

AWARDS BUFFET: 2:00 P.M. AT LOUIE’S BACKYARD

AWARDS: 3:00 P.M. AT LOUIE’S BACKYARD

 

IMPORTANT:

Boat Captains or a team representative must pick up a tournament packet at the Captain's Party at Louie’s Backyard on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 5 P.M, containing a copy of the tournament rules and regulations.  Each boat will be required to sign an acknowledgment of receipt and approval of the published rules and regulations.

CAPTAIN'S PARTY:

Captain's Party will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island.   Tournament participants are strongly encouraged to attend the Captain's Party - rules and regulations for the tournament will be reviewed and discussed.

 

It is the responsibility of all Tournament Anglers, Captains, Guides and Boat Drivers to understand, and abide by all rules. If you have any question regarding any rule, please address your questions before the event.

 

 

TOURNAMENT RULES

This is a Bay fishing tournament.  Registration will be via QR code/link to registration website.

  1. ELIGIBILITY: SpawGlass clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and their employees.   All anglers must have a Texas Fishing License unless exempt.  ALL State & Federal regulations apply.

  2. Only 4 occupants on the boat may fish and must be registered in the tournament.  Fishing guides are not eligible unless they are registered participants.

  3. No kayaks, fishing from the dock. No remote drop offs. You can wade from an anchored boat only and must be within sight of the boat.

  4. Fishing will begin at 6:30 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2025.  Fishermen may launch their boats from anywhere they choose.

  5. Only one rod per angler is allowed in the water at one time. Fish must be caught on a rod and reel.

  6. Weigh-in is no earlier than 1:00p.m. and you must be in the sight of the Weigh Master before 3:00p.m. at the weigh-in area (Louie’s Backyard).  Anglers may drive fish in from any location.  Anglers weighing in the fish will be required to initial weigh in cards.  Angler assumes responsibility of meeting rules and requirements.

  7. No red drum over 28” will be weighed. No speckled trout over 20” will be weighed. No Oversized Fish Allowed at Weigh In

  8. $1,000 cash prize will be given to the top three individuals (1st place) weighing in the heaviest Redfish, Trout and Flounder for each division.  THE SAME FISH CANNOT BE USED IN MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY.

  9. $2,000 Grand Champion cash prize will be awarded to the boat who weighs in the heaviest stringer of (1) Redfish, (1) Trout and (1) Flounder.  Your boat MUST weigh in all 3 species to be eligible for the Grand Champion prize.

  10. In the event of a division weight tie, length of the longest fish will prevail.   Further tie breaker - first fish weighed.  The official time will be kept by the Tournament Director.  Decisions of the Weigh Master and Tournament Director are final.

  11. Weigh in of any illegal fish will be disqualified.

  12. No more than one fishing guide per boat.

  13. SpawGlass reserves the right to open and inspect all tournament fish submitted for weigh-in. 

 

Wildcard

  • The MOST SPOTS on a Redfish will be awarded to one winner for a $200 gift card.  In the event of a tie, above rules for tie breaker will apply.
